Annual Blood-shed Rituals of the Shia
As part of the Shia's commemoration of the brutal killing of Al-Hussein, prophet Mohammad (p)'s grandson and many of his family members, relatives, and followers in Karbala, Iraq, on Muharram 10 of the Hijri Calendar, the Shia annually perform bloody rituals, to feel the suffering of Al-Hussein and to blame themselves for failing to defend him adequately. There are many videos on YouTube that depict these rituals of the Shia (warning: there is significant violence and blood-shed in these videos).
